Ann Christine Hallberg, age 89. It was Palm Sunday, when Ann came into this world born on the family farm in rural Watkins, MN to Richard and Margaret (Sundquist) Hallberg. She was the youngest of four girls, Kathryn (Gerald) Jenniges, Phyllis (Olaf) Johnson and Betty (Bob) Alvord.

Her early education was a one-room country school, District #74, 1-8, and later graduating from Litchfield High School, Litchfield, MN, Class of '53.

After working several years in Minneapolis, she moved to Chicago, which was to be only temporary, but she ended up making it her home, retiring from Illinois Central Railroad in December 2002.

She was happy growing up on a farm with all the animals. Loved the winter sports, especially ice skating, and loved the game of baseball. She also enjoyed a good game of whist. And Willie Nelson.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, and their spouses, her blessed godson and nephew, Neil Johnson, nephew Dick Jenniges, and Nancy Bloczynski, wife of nephew Eric Johnson, as well as many dear friends, cousins and two loving fur persons, Molly and Daisy, forever in her memory.

Family and friends will meet Monday, July 22, 2024 at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1301 North LaSalle Drive, Chicago, Illinois 60610 for a 10:00 a.m. Visitation followed by a 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service. Parking is available two blocks west of First Saint Paul's, at the Franklin School parking lot. Please visit the Church website for directions: https://fspauls.org . You will need to print out a parking pass or pick one up at the church entrance before you park. Place the pass on your car's dashboard. Please park on the west side of the Franklin School lot, by the fence near the train tracks.

Committal Service Monday, July 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Ostmark Lutheran Church, 32721 680th Avenue, Watkins, Minnesota 55389.
