Obituary

Arthur Eldridge Bryan III, age 55, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2016. He was the owner of the iconic Redhead Piano Bar, a Chicago landmark for 23 years. Art Bryan was a passionate and dedicated Chicagoan who supported numerous non-profit, community-based organizations, including the Magnificent Mile Association and the River North Business Association, which presented him with their Community Impact Award earlier this year.

His generosity was reflected in the many donations he gave to too many causes to list. His passion in life was taking care of family and friends and running the Redhead. In recognition of that passion, the Redhead is open for business and will host a celebration of his life on Friday.

He leaves behind his loving wife Mirvat Talaat; his mother Elizabeth Bryan; his siblings Daniel (Kathy Horky) Bryan, John (Jenni) Bryan, and Elizabeth (Mitchell) Perry; his nieces and nephews Andrew, Brett, and Grant Perry; Jeremy, Teagan, Tyler, and Ian Bryan; Brandon and Bailey Hubacher; and Grant, Alex, Joey, and Danielle Grieco.

He is preceded in death by his father Arthur Bryan Jr.

Family, friends, and Redhead Piano Bar patrons gathered for a service at Michalik Funeral Home, 1056 West Chicago Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60642, Friday, April 22, 2016 from 1:00-3:00pm, followed by a celebration of his life and legacy at the Redhead Piano Bar, 16 West Ontario Street, Chicago, Illinois 60654 at 4:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in his name to One for the Kids , P.O. Box 636, Lombard, Illinois 601487.

A dedication ceremony for a new street sign to be unveiled at the corner of State Street and Ontario Street will take place on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 from 3:00pm-3:40pm. The dedication ceremony for the street sign Art Bryan Way renames a section of Ontario Street (between State and Dearborn) for Arthur E. Bryan, the proprietor and owner of the iconic Redhead Piano Bar who passed away earlier this year. The dedication ceremony will be followed by a reception at the Redhead Piano Bar.
