Carol Jane Bunch of Chicago, Illinois died on Friday, March 20, 2026.
Carol was the beloved sister of Marlene Bunch and was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Jane Bunch, and her two brothers, Charles and Brian Bunch. Carol is also survived by her sisters in law, Cheryl Bunch and Donna Bunch, her nephews, Paul Bunch, Michael Bunch, Charles Bunch, and her niece Elizabeth Lamela.
After graduating as valedictorian from Andrean Catholic High School, Carol graduated from Purdue University with a BA in psychology. She spent nearly a decade teaching in a Catholic grade school, after which she chose a totally different career path in the world of finance. She became a stockbroker at Merrill Lynch, where she had a stellar 47 year career. Carol was widely recognized as one of the most successful advisors at Merrill Lynch. She was also recognized for her achievements as a top advisor by Forbes. She not only loved her work, but she was also trusted and admired by her clients and colleagues.
Carol lived live to the fullest. She was a strong, independent, determined woman with a strong sense of humor and fashion. She always did what was right and she stuck to her convictions. She accomplished anything she set her mind to even when things were difficult. Family was important to Carol. She often organized family events on holidays, giving of her time and resources. This gave everyone a reason to reunite from all over the country and enjoy special moments together. Carol loved animals and helped them any chance she had. She especially adored her Persian cats.
Family and friends will meet Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Holy Name Cathedral, 735 North State Street, Chicago, Illinois 60654 for a 9:30 a.m. Visitation followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass. Free parking for Holy Name Cathedral is available at 14 West Superior Street (between Dearborn Street and State Street). Please take a ticket for validation and use any nonreserved parking space on Lower Level One (LL1) or Lower Level Two (LL2). Private Interment Willow Lawn Memorial Park, Vernon Hills, Illinois.
