Charles J. Sindelar, 79, died in Chicago on May 12, 2017 of cancer. He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Wendt), two children, Charles J. Sindelar III (Rebecca Troha) and Leslie Sindelar Guillon, and four grandchildren.

Born in Oak Park, Illinois, Sindelar grew up in Berwyn, and later raised his family in River Forest, Illinois, where he was a resident for 32 years. His education included an electrical engineering degree (BSEE) from Purdue University, a law degree (JD) from DePaul University and a masters in business administration (MBA) from the University of Chicago. He spent more than forty years in the consumer electronics industry and served as President and Chief Operating Officer of Zenith Time, SA in Le Locle, Switzerland, Vice President and General Manager of the Digital Video Group and Network Systems Division of Zenith Electronics Corporation in Chicago and Vice President and General Manager of Satellite Broadcast Network Systems of Motorola in Chicago.

In retirement, Sindelar divided his time among Chicago Illinois, Steamboat Springs, Colorado and La Quinta, California. He enjoyed sailing and collecting wine and was a Veteran III member of Chicago Yacht Club and member of the Palm Springs bailliage of the Chaine des Rotisseurs. While in La Quinta, he tutored fifth grade students in the Read With Me Program.

Visitation Friday, May 19, 2017 from 9:15 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Name Cathedral, 735 N. State St., Chicago, IL 60610. Interment Graceland Cemetery, Chicago, IL.
