David
Klingenhagen
April 15, 2021
David Klingenhagen, age 61, passed away in Chicago, Illinois on April 15, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents Declan Klingenhagen and Ann C. (Williams) Klingenhagen.
David was born and spent much of his childhood in New Jersey. He graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in finance. David was a writer and radio personality who began his career at his high school radio station, becoming a popular DJ, announcer and on-air commentator in several major cities. With his quick wit, curious mind and keen observational humor, he was pathologically averse to bombast and pomposity and specialized in satirical takes on the news, under the moniker "Mr. Newsreel." He was also an avid reader and cinema buff who saw Star Wars 113 times and enjoyed gangster films and lore. Those who wish to honor David can best do so by watching his all-time favorite movie "Animal House."
David was an intelligent, kind man who touched so many lives. He was well known for his love of children and dogs, and always sought out ways to help out his neighbors, whether shoveling snow or running errands.
He will be sadly missed by his sisters Ann Marie Klingenhagen, Alice Jean Coughlin (Jim), Valerie Ryan and brother Fred Klingenhagen (Madelyn Flammia). He was the beloved Uncle Dave to Kristopher Coughlin, Julie Wilson (Phil), Jonathan Coughlin and great-uncle of Jaclyn Wilson. He will be fondly remembered by his uncle, aunts, many cousins and friends who will miss his ironic chuckle and biting witticisms.
May he rest in peace with his cherished Fang, Sean, Maddy, Ariel and Boo.
