Obituary

Emma Ruth Kuipers Talen, age 91, died without pain on September 13, 2018.  She was married to her devoted and loving husband, Gerald August Talen for almost 70 years.

She had five children.  Kathryn Ann Talen Cook (married to John Cook), who proceeded her in death, Timothy Clare Talen (married to Patricia  Kaperak), Mary Ruth Talen (married to Thomas B. Dozeman), Gerald A Talen, II (married to Ayse Can Talen), and Emily Talen (married to Luc E. Anselin).

She was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren:  Christopher Gerald Cook (Lara Ann Ellinger) with Henry Talen Cook;  Julianne Marie Henderson (Kevin Michael Henderson) with Patrick Gerald and Owen Michael Henderson; Peter Joseph Talen (proceeded in death); Andrew Paul Talen, Luke Gerald Talen (Lisa Rae Fisher Talen) with Lydia Mae, Evelyn Leona, and Benjamin Peter Talen; Jennifer Ann Talen Cable (Justin Jerome Cable);  Aaron Talen Dozeman (Joanne Moon), Emily Talen Dozeman, Devrin Can Talen (Nicole Allyse Tarantelli Talen), Kemal Can Talen, Emma Leah Talen Anselin, Lucie Anna Talen Anselin Pesch  (Ryan Mitchell Pesch), Thomas Ferdinand Talen Anselin.

She was the devoted daughter of Rev. William Kuipers and Emma Ruth Batts. She is proceeded in death by 4 older siblings:  John William Kuipers (Letty), George Kuipers (Lorraine), Nelly Kuipers, and Harriet Kuipers Remein (Quentin Remein).  She has a living older sister, Florence Kuipers.

Emma was a gracious, intellectually gifted woman with an angel's voice.  She held her family together through multiple moves and endless adventures.  Her nicknames of "glue" and "flexible pea soup" were endearing ways of remembering her strength of steel but adaptive nature.  Her laugh was contagious and her singing was mesmerizing.  She loved her husband with abandon.  She is now by the Sea of Crystal where the Saints in Glory Stand....

Memorial Service Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 3:30 pm at the Buchanan Chapel at Fourth Presbyterian Church, 126 East Chestnut Street, Chicago, Illinois 60611.

Graveside Service Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Evergreen Cemetery in Menomonie, Wisconsin. A reception will follow the service to honor her life and share our memories.
