Obituary

ERIC GRINER TARGOS, 26, lost his courageous battle with addiction on February 12, 2014 in Chicago, Illinois. Born on February 22, 1987 in Chicago, Eric lived most of his life in Palm Harbor, Pinellas County, Florida with his mother, where he attended Tarpon Springs High School. He later attended Roosevelt University in Chicago. Eric's passion for fishing began as a toddler and lasted for the rest of his life. He was an avid Miami Dolphins fan and had great love for all animals. He grew up with his beloved golden retriever, Boomer, as well as numerous other pets: iguanas, rabbits, ducks, parrots, chinchillas, ferrets, fish, and snakes. His heart was huge and compassionate; he was known for bringing home stray or injured animals for whom he nursed back to health. He was of sharp wit and keen intelligence, enjoyed cooking, lively debates and made people laugh with his teasing sense of humor. He is missed and beloved by many friends. He is survived by his mother, Kimberly Griner Heinz (Don) of Arkdale, Wisconsin, his maternal grandparents, whom Eric loved fiercely, Philip and Arlette "Tell Grandma I Love Her" Griner of Trinity, Florida. He is preceded in death by his father Richard James Targos of Chicago (2010), his girlfriend Elia Bryan of Massachusetts (2010) and Boomer (2004).
