Surrounded by her children and grandchildren, Hannah "Ann" Lustman (nee Ahern), age 95, died July 18, 2021 of complications of pancreatic cancer, the disease diagnosed only 17 days earlier.

Born to devout Catholics and Irish immigrants (William and Ellen (Corcoran) Ahern from County Cork), she and her siblings John (Helen) and James (Lynne) Ahern and Elizabeth "Betty" (Robert) Ridge were raised in Southie (Roxbury, Dorchester), an Irish enclave in Boston.

She met the love of her life, Samuel J. Lustman, prior to WWII, they communicated throughout the war, married upon his return (1947), and moved to Chicago where Sam and his father (Joseph) owned and operated a meat packing company.  They enjoyed 53 joyful years being wholly devoted to one another and to their 7 children (Kathleen, Patrick, Joseph (Carol), Nancy, James, and the late Anne Marie and John).  She had 10 grandchildren Jeremy (Jennifer), Michael (Christina), David, Renee, Jessica and Sasha Lustman, Jonathan (Valerie) Hirsch, Hannah (Phillip) Lustman-Rodriguez, Sophie (Zachary) Holtgrewe, and Samantha Wilson) and 4 great-grandchildren (Rilke Hirsch, and Ryan, Aubrey, and Avery Lustman).  Somehow, she managed to have close and continuous relationships with every one of these offspring as well as with her many nieces and nephews (Marianne (Sherman), Nancy (Leach), Ellen Ridge, and Sheila, Bobby, Laurie, Michael (Kathleen), and James (Susan) Ahern, and the late Christine (McEvoy) and William Ridge.

Visitation Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the 3:00 p.m. Funeral Mass at Holy Name Cathedral, 735 North State Street, Chicago, Illinois 60654.

Interment Friday, July 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the All Saints Cemetery, 700 North River Road, Des Plaines, Illinois 60016.
