Hugh "Huey" Lewis died unexpectedly on Friday, December 1, 2017, in Evanston, IL at the age of 44.
Huey was born on December 10, 1972, in Lafayette, LA. He was devoted to Sandy Schlosser and they resided together in Evanston. He was a long-standing member of the Columbia College Chicago community both as a student and staff member. His commitment to Columbia College Chicago was nearly 20 years.
Huey was an avid bicyclist and hiker. He was a generous individual who loved being outdoors and who was passionate about educating students. Not a day went by without Huey's infectious smile.
Huey is survived by his parents, Amelia (Konopacki) Lewis and Hugh Griffith Lewis; longtime partner, Sandy Schlosser; sister, Becky Winchell; he was the fond uncle of 7 - Helen, Emily, Andrew, Mary Margaret, Hope, Meredith and Ben Winchell; great-uncle to Mila Lake; loving nephew of Lynn (Terry) Mitchell, Jan Calbert, Eugene Konopacki (Gerrie), and Marty (Mary) Konopacki. He is preceded in death by his uncle, Allen Konopacki; grandparents, Helen and Eugene Konopacki and Hugh and Hope Lewis.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 9:30 am at Holy Name Cathedral, with a visitation at 8:45 am in the church. Rev. John P. Boivin will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Huey's life.
