James Troy "Jim" Dillbeck, 79, of Chicago, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2014, surrounded by his loving partner, children and closest friends.
Jim was born on November 4, 1934 in Mercer County, IL, son of Oren and Martha (Bethel) Dillbeck. He graduated from Alexis Community High School in 1952. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 through 1959 and was a graduate of Augustana College.
Jim married Ann Johnson on December 29, 1957 in Moline, IL. The couple lived in New Orleans several years before returning to Moline.
In 1964 Jim opened The Bridal Boutique in Rock Island, IL, one of the first high fashion ladies formal wear and bridal wear shops in the Quad Cities. He also created many special events in the Quad Cities.
In 1978, he moved to Chicago and had a showroom in the Apparel Mart where he represented several ladies ready-to-wear and bridal-wear lines, including Priscilla of Boston.
He later worked for Michael and Kathy Leventhal at Ronsley Special Events. He then worked at Renown Productions with Frank and Marla Rosenberg and was a co-owner of Millennium Events. Jim has created many exciting special events, corporate affairs, weddings and bar mitzvahs in the Chicago area and across the United States. He has currently been employed by Heffernan Morgan Ronsley Event Design and Production.
In his free time he enjoyed traveling extensively across the globe and enjoying the special moments in life with a Perfect Rob Roy and his friends and family.
Survivors include his long-term companion Robert Lee "Buddy" Allen of Chicago, lifetime friend and former wife Ann Dillbeck, daughter Lisa (Dillbeck) Cox of East Moline, son Timothy Dillbeck of East Moline, brother Robert (Pat) Dillbeck of Muscatine, IA, grandchildren Anthony Charlson, Ashley Charlson, Alexis Dillbeck, Heather (Ramon) Gilroy, Tyler Cox, Brandon Cox and Clinton Cox, along with 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son James Bruce "Bruno" Dillbeck of East Moline, brothers Sewell Dillbeck of Rio, IL and G. Rex Dillbeck of Phoenix, AZ and sister Mava (Dillbeck) Yager of Baltimore, MD.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 2:00pm in the Honoré Ballroom in the Palmer House Hilton, 17 East Monroe, Chicago, IL 60603.
A service will also be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 1:00pm at Abbey Station, 3031 5th Avenue, Rock Island, IL 61201.
