Joan Williams (nee Myatt) died peacefully on January 2, 2014 of natural causes after a brief illness, in Chicago, Illinois.
Joan was born September 25, 1928 in Birch Creek, Minnesota, one of six children (siblings Peter, Ginger and the late Mary, Pauline, and Anne) to the late Peter and Rose(Karasiewicz) Myatt.
She moved to Chicago, Illinois as a young woman and was a lifetime resident of Chicago.
Joan married Emerson Williams in 1948, who passed away in 1993.
Joan's adult working life included many years in the hospitality industry, including working at Chicago's Conrad Hilton Hotel, and later as a receptionist and concierge for a Hyde Park co-op. She loved to travel, was an avid film enthusiast, and a recognized poetry writer.
She is survived by her three children, daughters Toni Gatling (the late Lee) of Phoenix, AZ and Eileen Williams of Durham, North Carolina, and son William (Elizabeth) of Springfield, Illinois, as well as her brother Peter of Mariposa, California, and sister Ginger of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and her many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
