John "Jack"
Higgins
August 5, 2023
John "Jack" Higgins peacefully left us on August 5, 2023 at the age 81 with his beloved wife of 58 years, Mary by his side. He is also survived by his children, Ann, John (Beth), Sheila (Tom), and Susan (Bryan); his grandchildren, Maggie, Tom, Katie, Abbey, Riley, Emily, Danny, Addison, and Spencer; and his sister, Susan (Ron). His parents, John and Alice and his sister, Mary (Butch) preceded him in death. He will be greatly missed by his many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. Jack was a devoted family man and friend who made an impact on everyone whose life he touched.
Jack was born in 1941 in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating from Leo High School and DePaul University, he married the love of his life, Mary, and started his long, successful career where he impacted many of his colleagues and made life-long friends. He was known for his loyalty, honesty, and work ethic. He gave all of himself to everyone he met.
Family was the driving force of his life. Jack's purchase of their house in Michigan City, Indiana gave his family a place to develop close bonds. It was, and will continue to be, a place of joy and celebration, with great food and wine, lots of laughs and games, long days on the beach, and endless sunsets. His greatest legacy is his family who will live and pass-on his values and lessons.
Family and friends will meet on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Old St. Patrick's Church, 700 West Adams Street, Chicago, Illinois 60661 for a 9:30 a.m. Visitation followed by a 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass.
