Dr. Joseph B. Nienaltowski, age 79, passed away peacefully and bravely on April 5, 2025 surrounded by those he loved, who also loved him dearly. He will be held dearly in our hearts forever.

Joe is survived by his loving wife of 57 years and his "angel" Charlotte Nienaltowski (Giunti), his loving daughter Erica Madden (Nienaltowski), admiring son-in-law Mike Madden, adoring granddaughter Erin Mary Madden (his "Bunny"), and sister, Rita Liguzinski (Nienaltowski). He is the son of the departed Bernard and Mary Nienaltowski and brother to the departed Diane Nienaltowski.

Joe was born in Garfield Heights, Ohio, in 1945 and raised in Bedford. His life was shaped by love, strength, integrity and grounded in his unwavering Catholic faith. He was a physician for over four decades, spending more than 35 years leading the Emergency Room at Western Reserve Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls. He loved being a physician and stood at the frontlines of care as a calm and steady presence in people's most frightening, uncertain hours as a true hero.

Most importantly, to his family, Joe was "Papa." He was the center of their world, their compass, protector, a quiet force of nature, and the "sparkle" of the family. He will be loved, missed dearly, and remembered forever.

Family and friends will meet Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Holy Name Cathedral, 735 North State Street, Chicago, Illinois 60654 for a 9:30 a.m. Visitation followed by a 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass.
