Jovan Armani DuBose was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 18, 1994. Raised primarily in Park City, Illinois, he attended Warren Township High School in Gurnee, ultimately graduating from Rockford Christian High School. While in Rockford, Jovan lived with the Evans family and thanks to them he deepened his faith and was baptized. Later he attended Waldorf University for a semester where he majored in communications, hosted a DJ radio show, and pursued his dream of playing football: "kept his mind focused on the ball he would never fumble." Shortly after, he ventured into new ground in Fort Worth, Texas prior returning to Park City.
During his journey, he experienced some challenges but always maintained an open heart, an endearing charm, an infectious sense of humor, and a fierce loyalty to those he loved. A talented lyricist who shared his passion for music with his cousins, Jovan spoke of his passage in life: "Transformation changed your son…Baby steps toward God – I now take every step with no hesitation." (Rockford Christian High School assembly, 2012).
On December 11, 2017 Jovan ultimately reached Him. He is survived by his mother Bernadette, his father Anthony, his step-father Melvin, his sister Enjoli, step-sisters Kristine and Priscilla, and countless friends and family.
