Obituary

LaRita Hermes Wright, who grew up in Sterling, Illinois, passed away on August 8, 2015 in Chicago, Illinois, where she has lived most of her adult life. A graduate nurse from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the VA Hospital in Chicago was her initial nursing position and she worked at Passavant, Loyola, Cook County, and other hospitals in this career in which she excelled and loved. LaRita also traveled to Algiers with Care Medico in her nursing capacity.

Born in Dixon, Illinois to Elizabeth and Hugh Hermes, the eldest of eight children, LaRita was predeceased by her parents, an infant brother Hugh Robert, her husband George Wright, brother-in-law Frank Mason, and sister-in-law Anne McGinn Hermes.

She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth and Kathleen, her son Hugh John, and her beloved grandson, Samuel Rene Williams, her four brothers: Edward F. Hermes, Stephen A. (Joan) Hermes, James P. Hermes, and William H. (Victoria) Hermes, and sisters: Rosemary Mason and Jeanne E. (Peter) Warner, sister-in-law: Judy Hermes, 22 nieces and nephews, and 38 great nieces and nephews.

At this time of sorrow and loss of LaRita in their lives, these family members of all ages and numerous friends and co-workers remember her with gratitude for her warmth and kindness, her spontaneity and her uncanny ability to make life fun for everyone. LaRita was a vivacious spirit with an infectious laugh who never met a stranger.

In celebration of LaRita's life a funeral mass will be held at Old St. Patrick's Church, 700 West Adams Street, Chicago, Illinois 60661, on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at 10am. There will be a gathering in the church hall after.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Brain & Behavior Research Foundation , bbrfoundation.org. Their mission is to alleviate the suffering caused by mental illness by awarding grants that will lead to advances and breakthroughs in scientific research.
