Fr. Leonard Krzywda, C.R., 78, died in Chicago on March 5. He professed vows as a member of the Congregation of the Resurrection in 1957 and was ordained a priest in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1965. He earned Bachelor's and Master's degrees from St. Louis University. As a young priest, he served as a chaplain in the United States Army with duty posts in Oklahoma, Vietnam, and South Korea. An important part of his ministry was the formation of novices and seminarians, in St. Louis, Missouri; Woodstock, Illinois; Chicago, Illinois; and Curitiba, Brazil. Fr. Leonard also accepted parochial appointments in Healdsburg, California; Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; Chicago, Illinois; Fontana and Rialto, California; Woodstock, Illinois; and Lake Arrowhead and Running Springs, California. He also took part in various committees and served on the Congregation's national leadership.
His remains will repose for viewing at St. Hedwig Church, 2226 North Hoyne Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60647, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 8, followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment St. Adalbert Cemetery, Niles, Illinois.
