Obituary

Dr. Manuel R. Tantoco passed away in his home in Chicago, Illinois on May 22, 2021 at the age of 80. Son of the late Cesar B. Tantoco and the late Soledad G. Resurreccion. He is survived by his wife Arlene T. Tantoco; children Dr. Ann-Marie T. Tantoco and Dr. Anthony (Jamee) T. Tantoco; grandson Augustus Jude C. Tantoco; brother Atty. Danilo R. Tantoco; sister Dr. Corazon T. Villano.

Born and raised in the Philippines, he was a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, class of 1964. He moved to the United States in 1967 to pursue further medical training. Manuel and Arlene were married in 1981 and later moved to New Martinsville, WV where they raised their two children. Dr. Manuel R. Tantoco served as the Chief of the Anesthesia Department in Wetzel County Hospital in New Martinsville from August 1988 to January 2001 when he retired.

Visitation Wednesday, May 26, 2021 from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Michalik Funeral Home, 1056 West Chicago Avenue, Chicago, Illinois. Funeral Mass Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Name Cathedral, 735 North State Street, Chicago, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to his parish Holy Name Cathedral in honor of Dr. Tantoco, or to the Dr. Manuel and Arlene Tantoco Endowed Fund for the Education of Seminarians at St. Paul Seminary, 2900 Noblestown Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15205.
