Margaret Mary
Munster
June 6, 2025
With hearts full of both sorrow and deep gratitude, we celebrate the life of Margaret Mary Munster, née Hickey—a devoted servant of God, beloved matriarch, and cherished member of her community—who passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2025, at the age of 90.
A proud member of the Order of Secular Servants of Mary (OSSM) at Assumption Church, Margaret's life was a shining testament to unwavering faith and boundless love for others. Affectionately known as Marge, she was a daily prayer warrior and a true force of nature. Her devotion to the Virgin Mary and the Rosary was both inspiring and contagious. Her tireless effort to grow the Secular Servite community was a reflection of her mission-driven spirit. Even during the most difficult days, she remained steadfast—never missing a community meeting, always present via Zoom, praying with her strong and clear voice.
Born to the late Norman and Margaret Hickey, Marge's journey was one marked by resilience, grace, and compassion. She endured the profound sorrow of losing her beloved husband, Martin V. Munster, and her dear son, Martin Vincent Jr. Yet even in grief, she carried herself with a Marian strength—tender, nurturing, and devoted.
Her legacy lives on through her loving family. She was the devoted mother of Catherine (James) Hartnett, Patricia (James) Suszka, and Sean Munster; the cherished grandmother of James (Melissa) Hartnett, and Margaret, Madeleine, and James Suszka III; and the adored great-grandmother of Lana Celeste Hartnett. She was the beloved sister of the late Dr. Joanne (Italo) Milani and the late Norman J. Hickey Jr., and a fond aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews.
A beloved and active member of St. Mary Source of Our Joy, OSSM Community at Assumption Church, Marge's passing leaves a deep void in her faith community. We are comforted in the belief that her Hail Mary's will now be whispered from heaven.
May her memory be a blessing, and may she find eternal rest in the loving arms of the Lord.
