Martha Guadalupe Rumbo, age 80, died on September 22, 2020 after a valiant fight with a long and harrowing illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband Gregorio Guerrero, and her brother Victor Rumbo.

She is survived by her children Martha (Bart) and Gerardo; her grandchildren Tommy and Henry; her siblings Jaime, Celia, Pedro, David, Rosa, and Rosario; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born in Mexico to Tomasa Alejandri and Anastacio Rumbo. She lived in Chicago for many decades where she raised a family and worked in several area hospitals, including St. Joseph, Columbus, and St. Anthony. She also worked at Pollenex.

She enjoyed gardening, and shared the beauty of her garden with her neighbors and many passersby who stopped to admire it and compliment her on it when she was outside.

In spite of being a tiny woman, she had great strength, fortitude and fierceness which her family greatly admired. Doer of the impossible. She faced all of life's challenges bravely and with great strength. With quiet fortitude and dignity, she took on the unlikely and the impossible, and accomplished many great things in spite of the odds. She helped her mother raise her siblings by selflessly working long hours to pay for their education and build a house for all of them to live despite being slightly older than a child herself.

Always an advocate of education, being very aware of how lucky she had been to receive an education, she encouraged her children to pursue their studies.

A survivor of many health issues, including cancer, she battled fiercely against ailments and diseases.

She will be remembered for her kindness to everyone, especially those in most need.

Visitation Sunday, September 27, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Michalik Funeral Home, 1056 West Chicago Avenue, Chicago, Illinois 60642. Entombment of Cremated Remains will be in Acapulco, Mexico.
