Reynaldo Manzano, age 87, passed away suddenly from a heart attack at his home in Chicago on January 18, 2022. Born in Eastland, Texas, he was one of six children of Eusebio Manzano and Herminia (de los Santos) Manzano.
Known to his friends and family as Ray or Uncle Guero (as his cousins named him), he was a quiet man, yet a ball of fire who had a love for travel, easily making friends along the way.
Ray enjoyed a long retirement and spent the early years on the beaches of Acapulco during the winter. Later, Houston, Texas, was his destination of choice, where he loved to gather by his sister's pool with family and friends or tend to the garden. When he wasn't using his green thumb skills, he loved sitting in the yard, playing his guitar, and singing. He fully enjoyed his retirement.
Fortunately, up until his passing, Ray was still able to travel, having returned from Houston only a few months earlier. He lived independently in a family building where Uncle Guero was lavished with love and kindness.
Ray is predeceased by his son, Frank Manzano; sister Rebecca Kaster (Pete); brother Jerry Manzano. Survived by his daughter Roxanne Manzano Burns (James); sister Paula Rodriquez; brothers Emilio Manzano and Alex Manzano; four grandchildren from his beloved son; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held in Houston, Texas on May 5, 2022 in his favorite yard by the pool, with friends and family sharing stories to celebrate his life.
