Obituary

Robert Francis Haney, 93, passed away at his home on October 17, 2024. He died as he had lived, quietly and with a calm dignity.

Born in Chicago in 1930 to Francis (Frank) and Rosalind (nee Curran) Haney, he was preceded in death by his younger brother John (Jack) and his sister-in-law Manette (nee Rauch)

Robert earned his MBA from Northwestern University after serving in the military, and in 1962 founded his CPA accounting firm Robert Haney & Company. He successfully led his company until his retirement and the company is still going strong today.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Carol (nee Maurello), his children Michael, Kristin Flora (Thomas), Ellen Cianelli (Joseph). He was preceded in death by his cherished youngest daughter Karyn (Sheila Sullivan). He is the proud grandfather of six and great grandfather of one. He has one niece and three nephews.

A devoted husband, father and confidant, Robert touched many lives with his kindness and wisdom. His legacy as a family man, financial consultant and friend will endure in the hearts of those who knew him.

During his long life Bob cultivated his many interests:  a frequent theater and museum patron, creative amateur painter, and resident community advocate. He served as treasurer and president of both Hinsdale Chamber of Commerce and his current Chicago Condominium Homeowners Association.
