Obituary

Suzi Chung, cherished sister and beloved aunt passed away on November 21, 2015.

Over the past 7 years, Suzi fought the effects of Systemic Scleroderma, which attacks multiple organs. She lost her kidneys and was on dialysis for 4 ½ years, but in January 2014, she received a kidney transplant which changed her life and gave her so much hope. She was so ever grateful to the family of Ashanti Davis, the donor. Suzi had the opportunity to travel and meet the family this year. She had an immediate connection to Ashanti's mother, Donzaletta Whitt, and deeply appreciated the outpouring of love she received from the family during her visit. Suzi was hospitalized in November with respiratory complications, and was not able to recover.

During her 50 years of life, Suzi could claim many accomplishments, including graduating from the University of Michigan with a degree in Psychology. For several years Suzi traveled as a Product Specialist for the Auto Shows, before developing her autoimmune disorder at the age of 43. In addition to her academic and career accomplishments, Suzi also appreciated the Fine Arts. She played the piano and the French horn, was a ballet dancer, and had her black belt in Tae Kwan Do. Not the least of her passions was that for acting: Suzi wrote several screenplays and played many small roles while following her dreams in Chicago and California.

Suzi will be deeply missed. However, her kindness, caring, and loving charm will be in the memories of those who were close to her, and encourage others to endure the challenges of life while living to the fullest.

Visitation Friday, November 27, 2015 from 4:30-7:30 p.m. with a Religious Service and closing of the casket from 7:30-8:00 p.m. at Michalik Funeral Home, 1056 West Chicago Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, 60642. Reception to follow.

Because of the suddenness of our loss and the proximity to the holidays, the family will be planning a Celebration of Life after the holiday season to allow friends and extended family who were not able to attend this service to come together to celebrate Suzi's life.
