Obituary

Virginia E. O'Connor, age 90, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

She was born in Delavan, Wisconsin and was raised in the neighboring town of Sharon, located in Walworth County of Wisconsin. She later moved to North State Parkway in Chicago, where she spent almost sixty (60) years of her life.

She is survived by her sister Kathleen O'Connor; nephew Kevin (Luz) O'Connor; and other nephews and nieces in New Jersey, Texas, Arkansas, and Arizona.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph D. and Zita Catherine O'Connor, oldest brother, Phillip J. O'Connor and his wife, her sister in-law, Therese O'Connor, and older sister, Marion Elizabeth McConnell and her husband, her brother-in-law, John B. McConnell, and niece, Martha Anne McConnell.

Virginia was a loving sister to Kathleen O'Connor and a doting aunt to Kevin O'Connor. A very pious woman, she visited many churches in Chicago, most notably Holy Name Cathedral, St. Peter's Church in the Loop, St. Michael Church in Old Town, and the National Shrine of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini in Lincoln Park, among others. She loved going to St. John Cantius Church, where she was a registered parishioner for many years. She enjoyed the church's Latin Mass, often attending their High Mass: 1962 Missal (Latin) on Sundays. She was a member of the Ambassadors of Mary and a lifelong devotee of the Blessed Virgin Mary. She belonged to Father Pio's prayer group as well as two (2) Bible Study groups. She attended so many Rosary Cenacles at Luz and Kevin's home for ten (10) years, St. Peter's Church and Shrine of Mother Cabrini. She loved listening to Relevant Radio's spiritual talks and watching EWTN on TV. A simple soul, she detached herself from the worldly things of this earth and instead immersed herself to a life of prayer and penance.

She will be dearly missed, specially by her sister, Kathleen and nephew, Kevin (Luz). We are grateful to God for her life.

May she rest in peace in God's eternal kingdom.
