William Martin
Snovell Jr.
June 2, 1956 – April 3, 2015
William Martin Snovell Jr., age 58, passed away on Good Friday, April 3, 2015 in Chicago, Illinois. Beloved husband of Courtenay Farley Snovell; son of William Sr. and the late Bernadette Connolly Snovell, all originally of Baltimore, Maryland. He leaves behind his father Bill Sr., brothers Donald and Andrew and their families—Sherri, Zachary and Jordan Snovell, and his sister Marian. Many relatives and friends are also mourning his loss.
Bill was a graduate of Douglas Freeman High School in Richmond, Virginia and Catholic University in Washington, D.C. He was a U.S. Army veteran and an actor on Broadway, television and in movies.
As a child, Bill lived in Baltimore, Maryland, Chicago, Illinois, Newport News and Richmond, Virginia. After being stationed in Baumholder, Germany while in the Army, Bill moved to Washington, D.C. to attend Catholic U. Upon graduation, Bill moved to New York City where he was a bouncer at Studio 54. Bill and Courtenay met in New York when one of his co-workers, who was dating Bill, kept on telling Courtenay that they'd be perfect together. In the interim Bill got fired from his waiter job and Courtenay was hired to replace him. They finally met at the managers BBQ and were from then on inseparable. They were married for 24 years, and devoted to each other. They made their homes in Atlanta, Georgia, London, UK, NYC, and most recently Chicago, Illinois.
Bill was a larger-than-life personality, and had a successful career in sales and marketing because of his great energy and his dynamic personality. He was the Chair of the Global Event Agency Practice Group for Expand International of America, Inc. in Chicago. Previously, he was employed with Kendall/Hunt Professional Education, IKON Office Solutions, and Minolta Corporation. Bill was a sales training Rock Star with IKON--energizing those he trained everywhere, and building lifelong relationships and friends.
Bill and Courtenay traveled extensively and enjoyed visits to exciting world capitals, such as Copenhagen, London, Paris, and Prague. They also enjoyed visiting quiet beaches in South Haven, Michigan, Naples, Florida, and Nags Head, North Carolina with their much loved dog Lilli en tote. Bill and Courtenay enjoyed taking advantage of all of the cultural opportunities in their adopted hometown of Chicago. They were parishioners at St. Peters Church in Chicago.
